Do You Often Feel Uncomfortable - Or Even Unsafe - In Your Own Body, In Relationships, Or In The World Around You, Without Always Knowing Why?

Do you frequently engage in harsh self-criticism, struggle to trust your own perceptions, or carry a persistent sense of unworthiness?

If you are carrying unresolved trauma, this can result in a restless nervous system - racing thoughts, intrusive memories, or a vague but persistent sense of danger that makes it hard to relax, disrupts sleep, and prevents an overall sense of safety. You may worry about getting stuck in this heightened state or feel unsure or overwhelmed about how to heal from childhood trauma.

Does This Sound Familiar?

For someone experiencing PTSD, a typical day can feel dominated by hypervigilance, intrusive memories, and sudden emotional or physical reactions to reminders of past trauma. Even ordinary tasks can feel exhausting as you struggle to manage anxiety, avoid triggers, and cope with waves of fear, sadness, or numbness.

There is a better way. Working with an experienced trauma therapist, it is possible to feel safe and at ease in your own body, to once again trust yourself and others, and to experience true healing and a sense of wholeness. Trauma counseling can help you identify and work through any existing self-doubt and shame. Trauma recovery can help you reframe the common belief “there must be something wrong with me,” to a fuller understanding and ability to recognize current experiences as survival responses.

Safety allows what is true to emerge.

You Are Not What Happened To You And You Are Not Alone

It’s important to know that whatever you’re feeling is a normal response to abnormal events. Your reactions are your mind and body’s way of trying to protect you, not a sign that something is “wrong” with you.

Trauma is far more common than many realize. Studies estimate that around 70-90% of people worldwide experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetime - ranging from accidents and natural disasters to abuse or violence. (https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/post-traumatic-stress-disorder). Of those, roughly 7-8% develop PTSD in their lifetime, but many more experience lasting anxiety, hypervigilance, sleep disturbances, or emotional numbness, even if they don’t meet full PTSD criteria. This shows that feeling shaken, on edge, or disconnected after trauma is a very common human experience, not a personal failing.

The Very Nature Of Trauma Is Often Too Much, Too Soon

Many people struggle to recover from trauma because environments they grew up in - family, cultural, or community - may have minimized, not understood, or even blamed them for their experiences. Generational trauma can affect a parent’s own coping, making it harder for them to fully recognize or respond supportively to their child’s or loved one’s trauma. Additionally, social stigma around mental health, lack of supportive relationships, and cultural pressures to “just move on” can make it hard to feel safe enough to process and heal.

Integrative Trauma Therapy Addresses The Mind, Body, And Emotions Together

With over 28 years of clinical experience I work from a truly holistic and integrative approach, which includes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), somatic therapy, and EMDR - especially when integrated with a spiritual focus - can be highly effective for trauma and PTSD.

EFT helps rebuild trust and emotional connection, somatic therapy releases trauma stored in the body, and EMDR facilitates reprocessing of traumatic memories, while a spiritual approach can provide meaning, grounding, and a sense of hope throughout healing.

What To Expect In Sessions

With each 60-minute session you can expect a safe, supportive space to explore your attachment history, emotions, body sensations, and memories at your own pace. Sessions may include gentle body awareness exercises, guided processing of past experiences, parts work, and techniques to help you feel grounded, connected, and gradually more at ease in your body and mind.

Through increased awareness, you’ll notice how trauma shows up in your body, you’ll improve your ability to self-regulate as you gradually build a deeper sense of safety, connection, and emotional resilience.

I approach my practice with deep understanding, acceptance, and respect, creating a safe space where you can explore your experience at your own pace, while allowing just enough challenge or discomfort to support growth and meaningful change. I hope to leave you feeling empowered, helping you connect with your own inner wisdom so you feel whole, grounded, and confident in the answers and healing already within you.

With PTSD and trauma treatment, it’s possible to move from feeling constantly on edge or stuck in the past to a place of safety, clarity, and self-trust. While forgetting complex trauma is unlikely and not the goal of healing, recovery is about learning to live fully and safely with your experiences, rather than being controlled by them. With guidance and support through trauma healing, you can reclaim your body, emotions and life, and discover the strength and wisdom already within you.

You May Be Wondering If You’re Ready To Take The Next Step In Healing Your Trauma…

Won’t talking about my childhood trauma and PTSD be overwhelming, too painful, or destabilizing?

You won’t have to face your experiences all at once; we’ll move at a pace that feels safe for you, while going to your edge, building your resilience and empowerment step by step.

I’m reluctant to try trauma counseling - I feel so embarrassed, weak and “broken” for needing help and not being able to handle this myself.

Many people feel shame or worry they’re “broken,” but needing support is a natural response to difficult experiences - not a flaw. You are whole and worthy just as you are, and therapy is simply a safe space to help you reconnect with your strength and true self.

I’ve tried so many things to address my childhood trauma, will counseling really help or make a difference?

It’s natural to wonder if therapy will really help, and while healing takes time, therapy isn’t about changing who you are - it’s about gently removing barriers that block your connection to yourself and your understanding of your experiences. True change comes from that self-connection, allowing your natural strength, wisdom, and resilience to guide you forward, step by step.
